Brand history

Audi was founded in 1899 by August Horch, a pioneer of German automotive engineering. After disagreements with his first employer, Horch established a new company in 1909, named Audi, the Latin translation of his surname, meaning "listen." In 1932, Audi merged with DKW, Horch, and Wanderer to form Auto Union AG, symbolized by the four rings of the logo. After World War II, production resumed in 1949, and in 1969, Audi merged with NSU Motorenwerke, solidifying its position in the automotive market. (audi.com)
