Mercedes-Benz Concept AMG GT XX 2025
Unveiled in 2025, the Mercedes-Benz Concept AMG GT XX is an electric high-performance study developed by Mercedes-AMG. It is more than a styling exercise: the vehicle demonstrates the AMG.EA architecture, axial-flux electric motors and a directly cooled high-performance battery. Mercedes-AMG quotes peak output above 1,000 kW, a theoretical top speed exceeding 360 km/h and average charging power above 850 kW across a wide portion of the charging curve. The concept has the low-slung proportions of a four-door performance car and brings together aerodynamic efficiency, sustained high-speed running and ultra-fast charging. The published figures remain prototype data rather than certified road-car specifications, so they should not be treated as final homologated values.

History
Mercedes-AMG unveiled the Concept AMG GT XX on June 25, 2025, as a showcase for the company’s next generation of electric performance cars. The project followed the 2022 Vision AMG, but placed greater emphasis on hardware intended for industrial development. Its AMG.EA platform combines three axial-flux motors: two at the rear and one at the front, with the front unit acting as a booster when extra power or traction is needed. The high-performance battery uses cylindrical NCMA cells, direct cooling and an electrical system above 800 volts. After the reveal, the prototype entered an endurance program at the Nardò high-speed test track in Italy. In August 2025, Mercedes-AMG reported 25 endurance records, including 5,479 kilometres covered in 24 hours and 40,075 kilometres completed in 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes and 7 seconds. Two vehicles took part in the demonstration, highlighting that the project was intended as a technology program as well as a design study.

Anecdotes
The Nardò endurance program took its name from Jules Verne’s Around the World in Eighty Days. The Concept AMG GT XX ultimately covered 40,075 kilometres in less than eight days. In a separate test, the vehicle reached a peak charging rate of 1,041 kW at a prototype charging station.
Production
The Concept AMG GT XX is not a series-production car, and Mercedes-Benz has not published a production volume for the model. The two vehicles used in the Nardò test were prototypes belonging to the technology program. Mercedes-AMG did state that several key elements, including the axial-flux motors and directly cooled battery, were intended to enter production within the AMG.EA architecture. The concept therefore functioned as a development test bed for the electric GT 4-Door Coupé revealed in 2026. Output, range, charging and speed figures quoted for the GT XX remain development or simulation data when they are not accompanied by official homologation.
Press reception
Specialist coverage generally treated the Concept AMG GT XX as a credible preview of AMG’s electric strategy rather than as an immediately market-ready model. MotorTrend emphasized the connection between the prototype and the hardware expected in the brand’s next generation of electric performance cars. Car and Driver viewed it as a strong indication that a production electric performance model was approaching. Publications also focused on the axial-flux motors, extremely high charging capability and endurance ambitions. Coverage remained cautious about final specifications, however, because the vehicle shown in 2025 was still a concept and not a homologated road car.
