Peugeot 208 Hatch 2015

2015

The 2015 Peugeot 208 Hatch belongs to the first generation of the city car introduced in 2012 as a replacement for the 207. At that point, it retains the compact stance and softened proportions that define the A9 family, along with an interior centered on the first i-Cockpit. That layout combines a small steering wheel, a high-set instrument cluster, and a central touchscreen, a combination that became one of Peugeot’s signature features. In 2015, the 208 Hatch therefore sits between the early years of the model and the mid-decade facelift, without belonging to the 2019-generation car.

History

Introduced in 2012 in the city-car segment, the Peugeot 208 replaced the 207 and opened a new chapter for the model line. The first generation, usually identified by the internal A9 code, was designed with a more compact visual stance and a lower mass than its predecessor. Its cabin was thoroughly reworked too, debuting the first production i-Cockpit. That arrangement places the instruments above a small-diameter steering wheel and uses a central touchscreen, a layout that quickly became closely associated with the 208.

The car was offered in three-door and five-door body styles depending on market and year. A 2015 208 Hatch belongs to this early life cycle, still close to the original specification of the model. The middle of the decade brought a facelift for the first generation, changing the front end, certain equipment items, and the rear signature. On some versions, the rear lights gained a stronger three-dimensional effect. Sporty GTi derivatives also helped shape the 208’s more dynamic image.

Evolution

In 2015, the 208 Hatch remained a first-generation car, well before the platform and technological shift that arrived in 2019. Its exterior reading is based on relatively soft volumes, a horizontal grille, and a generally more rounded appearance than the second-generation 208. Inside, it is identified by the first i-Cockpit, with a raised instrument panel and a compact steering wheel.

Compared with the earliest 2012 examples, a 2015 208 may already sit close to the mid-cycle facelift. That update brings a more assertive front end, revised equipment, and, on some versions, rear lamps with a 3D effect. This is an evolution of the original generation rather than a new generation. For accurate identification, production year, body style, and visual details remain important.

Variants

The 2015 208 Hatch sits within a family that was offered in several body styles and several levels of emphasis. The first generation was initially available as a three-door and a five-door, depending on market and year, with the Hatch representing the more versatile body style of that period. The early years highlighted the range of silhouettes more clearly, while later examples from the same generation are mainly associated with the five-door format.

Within the range, sporty GTi trims occupy a separate role and strengthen the model’s dynamic image. The dossier also notes that commercial names and equipment levels can vary by country, year, and serial number. For a 2015 208 Hatch, it is therefore important to separate the base body style, the exact trim, and any market-specific details before identifying the configuration.
