History

Introduced in 2007, the GranTurismo Coupé marked Maserati’s return to the segment of sporty coupes designed for everyday use. Unlike more extreme models, it focuses on balancing comfort and performance, with its naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 delivering 405 hp. This engine enables a top speed of 285 km/h while ensuring a pleasant experience for four passengers. Its design, crafted by Pininfarina, continues Maserati's stylistic traditions, featuring a long hood and elegant profile. Sharing technical elements with the contemporaneous Quattroporte, it benefits from mechanical robustness and reliability. The Coupé laid the foundation for a broader GranTurismo range later expanded with various specialized variants.

Evolution

Over the years, the 2007 GranTurismo Coupé's mechanical setup evolved, notably transitioning from the 4.2-liter V8 to a larger 4.7-liter unit in later versions such as the GranTurismo S. Subsequently, sportier and lighter-focused variants like the MC and MC Stradale emerged, alongside the Sport model which replaced the S. Nonetheless, the 2007 version remains the traditional foundation, marking the first generation with its naturally aspirated engine and Pininfarina design language. The major 2018 facelift, featuring a more aggressive grille and updated interfaces, did not directly affect the original 2007 model but highlights the adaptability and progression within this GranTurismo generation.

Variants

The 2007 Maserati GranTurismo Coupé represents the base version of the GranTurismo’s first generation. This model is characterized by a fixed roof, comfortable four-seat configuration, and a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine. Later, Maserati expanded the lineup with the 4.7-liter GranTurismo S and performance-focused variants like the MC and MC Stradale. Additionally, in 2009, the GranCabrio was introduced as a four-seat convertible derived from the coupe. Thus, the 2007 Coupé embodies the original balance between sportiness and grand touring, forming the foundation for a range that subsequently evolved towards more specialized models.
