Visually, the 2016 Base is instantly recognizable by its separated rear buttresses and the dramatic airflow channels around the central cell. The very forward cockpit and wraparound windshield reinforce the impression of a road-going prototype. This evolution is not only stylistic: it reflects a move from a supercar still fairly close to the traditional sports car formula toward a machine developed with a much more race-like logic.

The 2016 Ford GT Base is the standard road-going version of the second generation.
