Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE 2009
The 2009 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE extends Ferrari’s front-engined V12 berlinetta introduced in 2006. Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, it adds the HGTE package, whose purpose is to sharpen the car’s road behaviour and handling rather than raise peak output. Ferrari positions it as a very fast grand tourer, but with a firmer and more responsive chassis setup. The naturally aspirated 5,999 cc V12 remains the centrepiece, while suspension and chassis settings are revised for greater precision. Within the 599 family, the HGTE therefore sits between the benchmark GTB and the more extreme GTO that followed.

History
The 599 GTB Fiorano appeared in 2006 as the successor to the 575M Maranello in Ferrari’s front-engined V12 line. Ferrari presented it as a car that could combine grand touring refinement with performance levels previously associated with the brand’s sportiest models. Styled by Pininfarina, the body takes the form of a two-seat berlinetta, with a long hood, a rear-set cabin and sculpted rear pillars that help manage airflow. The aluminium structure, magnetorheological suspension and F1-Trac traction-control system all reflect the same aim: to narrow the gap between comfort and dynamic effectiveness.
Its naturally aspirated 5,999 cc V12 is mounted longitudinally at the front and drives the rear wheels. A six-speed manual gearbox was available, although the automated F1 transmission was the more common choice. In 2009, Ferrari added the HGTE package to this foundation. Rather than turning the 599 into a separate model, it revised chassis tuning and equipment to make the car firmer and more incisive. The 2010 599 GTO would later take the concept much further.
