The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe introduced the eighth-generation sports car, known internally as the C8. On July 18, 2019, Chevrolet unveiled the 2020 Corvette Stingray and confirmed the move to a mid-engine layout. The coupe was launched first, followed by a convertible using a retractable hardtop. Regular production of the 2020 coupe began on February 3, 2020, at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky, a facility associated with Corvette production since 1981. The new generation also introduced a dual-clutch transmission as the only gearbox at launch, ending the availability of a manual transmission for the model.
