Audi RS5 Avant 2026
The 2026 Audi RS5 Avant introduces the brand's first "performance hybrid" powertrain: 470 kW (639 hp) and 825 Nm of system torque. A 2,894 cc twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 producing 375 kW (510 hp) is paired with a 130 kW peak / 460 Nm electric motor fed by a 400 V lithium-ion battery rated at 25.9 kWh gross (22 kWh usable). Drive goes through an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox and permanent quattro all-wheel drive with a self-locking centre differential. The result: 0-100 km/h in 3.6 s, 250 km/h top speed and up to 86 km of electric range.

History
This generation opens a new chapter for Audi’s mid-size range. Introduced under the A5 name after thirty years of A4, it adopts the Premium Platform Combustion, a new electronic architecture and a cabin centred on the curved OLED MMI panoramic display.

Anecdotes
The high-voltage battery packs 102 lithium-ion cells at 400 V and charges on AC at up to 11 kW, taking roughly 165 minutes from 0 to 100%. In pure electric mode the RS5 Avant reaches 140 km/h — a speed few plug-in hybrids allow without waking the combustion engine. The second-generation OLED tail lights can display several light signatures and take part in communicating with other road users.
Production
Figures correspond to the Audi Germany programme, manufacturer data sheet dated 9 July 2026. Service intervals are set at 30,000 km or 2 years, whichever comes first, with a 2-year vehicle warranty, 3-year paint warranty and 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
Press reception
Audi presents this RS5 as its first "performance hybrid" and emphasises driving dynamics over efficiency alone. The manufacturer quotes 4.5-3.9 l/100 km and 102-88 g/km of CO₂ on the weighted cycle (class C to B). With the battery depleted, consumption rises to 10.2-9.6 l/100 km and 232-219 g/km, a CO₂ class of G — a gap worth knowing before choosing a plug-in hybrid over a conventional combustion model.
