Launched in 2024, the Renault Scenic E-Tech is an all-electric family vehicle developed on the AmpR Medium platform. This fifth-generation model keeps the name introduced by the 1996 compact MPV, but replaces the original one-box layout with a raised crossover-style body. Renault offered two battery capacities, 60 kWh and 87 kWh, with claimed WLTP ranges of up to 430 km and 625 km respectively, depending on specification. Built in Douai, France, the Scenic E-Tech combines family-oriented space, rapid-charging capability and connected technology with an electric powertrain rated at up to 220 hp. History

The Scenic name first appeared on a Renault concept before becoming a production version of the Mégane in 1996. Sold as a separate model from 1997, it helped establish the compact MPV format in Europe through its spacious cabin, practical storage and flexible interior. The first generation won the European Car of the Year award in 1997, an important distinction for a family-oriented vehicle. Successive generations arrived in 2003, 2009 and 2016, gradually adopting longer body options and a more crossover-like appearance as customer interest in traditional MPVs declined.

Renault later redirected the nameplate toward electric mobility. The Scénic Vision concept, shown in 2022, previewed the design language and broader sustainability ambitions of the fifth generation. The production Scénic E-Tech electric made its public debut at the IAA Mobility show in Munich on 4 September 2023, followed by the opening of French orders later that year. European customer deliveries began in spring 2024. Production takes place at Renault’s Douai facility in northern France, part of the ElectriCity industrial network.

Evolution

The Scenic E-Tech marks a substantial change from the first four generations. It does not retain the traditional compact-MPV profile or the individual sliding rear seats associated with earlier Scenic models. Renault instead uses a lower, more aerodynamic crossover body while keeping a five-seat family layout. The vehicle is based on the AmpR Medium platform, developed from the earlier CMF-EV architecture for C-segment electric models. Variants

The 2024 range is built around two battery capacities. The 60 kWh pack, marketed in France as the Comfort Range version, provides a claimed WLTP range of up to 430 km. At the French launch, the 60 kWh battery was available with evolution and techno trim levels, while the 87 kWh pack started with techno.
