Pontiac was established in 1926 as a companion brand to General Motors' Oakland line. The name "Pontiac" honors the Native American leader who led a rebellion against British settlers in the 18th century. The brand quickly surpassed Oakland in popularity, becoming a major division of GM. Over the decades, Pontiac distinguished itself with iconic models like the Bonneville, Firebird, and GTO, embodying the spirit of performance and innovation.
