Presented with the Q9 family on 29 July 2026, the vehicle was initially shown in a specification intended for the United States; Audi says availability in additional markets remains under review. In the official photographs, it can be recognised by its dark model-specific grille, red S badge, large wheels and sportier exterior detailing.

History

The SQ9 sits at the top of the new Q9 family, which introduces the number 9 to Audi’s naming system for the first time. Its presentation accompanies the launch of the largest SUV the brand has ever produced. The vehicle photographed by Audi is in US specification, visible notably through its amber side markers, and retains the Q9’s three-row silhouette.

Anecdotes

The five launch photographs preserved here carry Audi image numbers A263887, A263890, A263892, A263893 and A263897. They show the SQ9 from several static and dynamic angles in Daytona grey metallic. The files are credited to AUDI AG and Audi marks them as free to use for editorial purposes.

Production

Audi presented the SQ9 on 29 July 2026 as a US model. At the time of publication, the manufacturer says availability in additional markets is still under review. No European launch schedule, official price or production volume can therefore be confirmed at this stage.

Evolution

The SQ9 retains the Q9’s visual architecture while giving it a stronger performance identity. Its upright front end combines illuminated rings with a dark, open-pattern grille, while the small red S emblem is the clearest identifying cue. At the rear, the broad light strip and curved digital OLED lamps place the model within Audi’s third generation of OLED lighting technology.

Variants

The first official images show a Daytona grey metallic SQ9 in North American specification. Audi has not yet confirmed a complete range of variants, powertrains or trims for Europe. The “Base” designation used in the ScanRacer library identifies this first public configuration until a detailed commercial catalogue becomes available.
