Unveiled on July 31, 2024, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron brings the large A6 estate into a fully electric architecture. As Audi’s second model developed on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), it combines five-seat accommodation, up to 1,422 litres of luggage capacity, an 800-volt electrical system and DC charging at up to 270 kW. In its most aerodynamic configuration, its drag coefficient is as low as 0.24.

History

The A6 e-tron continues a model line that began as the Audi 100 in 1968 and adopted the A6 name in 1994. Audi presented the A6 Avant e-tron concept in 2022 before unveiling the production Avant and Sportback together in July 2024. Orders for the A6 Avant e-tron performance and S6 Avant e-tron opened in September 2024. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive model and A6 Avant e-tron quattro joined the range in October 2024.

Anecdotes

The Avant is 4,928 mm long and 1,923 mm wide excluding mirrors, with a wheelbase of approximately 2,950 mm. Its luggage compartment provides 502 litres behind the second row and 1,422 litres with the rear seats folded, 92 litres more than the Sportback in its maximum configuration. A 27-litre front compartment adds further storage. Braked towing capacity reaches 2,100 kg on all three documented versions.

Production

The A6 Avant e-tron uses the PPE platform jointly developed by Audi and Porsche. The 210 kW version has an 83 kWh gross battery, of which 75.8 kWh is usable, and accepts up to 225 kW DC. The performance and quattro versions use a 100 kWh gross battery, with 94.9 kWh usable, and can reach 270 kW. Audi quotes 21 minutes for a 10–80% charge at a suitable charger; AC charging is rated at 11 kW.

Press reception

With a minimum drag coefficient of 0.24, Audi positions the A6 Avant e-tron as an aerodynamic benchmark among estate cars. This result is achieved without giving up luggage capacity or towing ability. In 2026, Audi also reported a five-star Euro NCAP result for the A6 e-tron range and a 2025 “Best in Class” distinction in the Executive Car category.

Evolution

The Avant retains the useful proportions of an estate while carefully managing airflow. Audi quotes a minimum drag coefficient of 0.24, achieved through features including an enclosed underbody, controllable air intakes, wheel-area deflectors and lateral aerodynamic breakaway edges at the rear. The February 2, 2026 data sheets show that Cd can reach 0.26 depending on version and equipment. At the front, slim daytime running lights are separated from the main lighting units, while a continuous rear light strip emphasises the body’s width.

Variants

Audi’s German technical data sheets dated February 2, 2026 distinguish three principal configurations. The rear-wheel-drive A6 Avant e-tron produces 210 kW, or 240 kW with Launch Control, and 435 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds, or 6.0 seconds with Launch Control, and offers a WLTP range of 520–604 km from 75.8 kWh usable. The A6 Avant e-tron performance remains rear-wheel drive: 270 kW, 280 kW with Launch Control and 565 Nm, with 0–100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and a WLTP range of 633–738 km from 94.9 kWh usable. The A6 Avant e-tron quattro adds a front motor and all-wheel drive: 315 kW, 340 kW with Launch Control, 275 Nm at the front and 580 Nm at the rear. It reaches 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, or 4.5 seconds with Launch Control, and offers 603–697 km WLTP. All three versions are limited to 210 km/h.
