Rolls-Royce Ghost 2009

The 2009 Ghost Base is the foundation of the entire first generation. Its evolution does not involve a full change of generation, but rather derivative body styles and an important mid-cycle update. In 2011, the Ghost Extended used the same base while stretching the body to prioritize rear passenger space. In 2014, Series II refreshed the presentation without altering the overall architecture.

Compared with the 2009 car, these developments stayed faithful to the original idea: a Rolls-Royce that looked less imposing than the Phantom and was intended for more regular use. The first generation remained in production until 2019, underlining the significance of the original model. The 2009 Base version therefore defines the proportions, visual tone and identity that later variants built upon.

Within the first generation, the 2009 Ghost Base is the starting point. The 2011 Ghost Extended keeps the same underlying platform and overall identity, but uses a longer wheelbase to give more priority to rear-seat space. Series II, introduced in 2014, remains tied to this same base while bringing presentation and equipment changes. Later, the Black Badge Ghost arrived on this generation in 2016 with a darker, more driver-focused interpretation.

To identify the Base version, it helps to place it at the beginning of the family and not confuse it with the more specialized derivatives. The Base remains the purest expression of the original Ghost, the car that established the overall design before stretched or more expressive variants appeared.
