Brand history

MG is a British automotive brand founded in 1924 by Cecil Kimber in Oxford, England. Initially, MG was a sports car division of Morris Garages, a sales and service center owned by William Morris. Cecil Kimber, the manager of the business, modified standard Morris models to create lightweight, fast sports cars, marked with the "MG Super Sports" name. In 1930, the company was incorporated as M.G. Car Company Limited. Over the years, MG underwent several ownership changes, including a merger with Austin to form the British Motor Corporation (BMC) in 1952, and later a merger with British Leyland in 1968. After financial difficulties, MG was acquired by the Chinese company SAIC Motor in 2007, restarting vehicle production under the MG brand. (en.wikipedia.org)

Positioning

MG is known for its accessible sports cars, combining performance with classic British design. The brand has evolved over the decades, integrating modern technologies while preserving its sporting heritage. Today, MG offers a diverse range of vehicles, from roadsters to SUVs, catering to the needs of passionate drivers.

Photo recognition

To identify an MG model, look for distinctive design elements such as round headlights, unique front grilles, and sleek lines. Older models, like the MGB, are often recognizable by their metal bodies and chrome bumpers. Newer models, such as the MG ZS, feature more modern lines and advanced technologies.

Important models

Among MG's iconic models is the MGB, produced from 1962 to 1980, known for its performance and timeless design. More recently, the MG ZS, a compact SUV, was launched in 2017, offering a blend of modern style and practicality. The MG Cyberster, an electric roadster, embodies the brand's future with its innovative design and advanced technologies.
