History

In 2016, following the announcement of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran Khodro and Peugeot intended to jointly produce the Peugeot 301, Peugeot 208, and Peugeot 2008 as part of the IKAP (Iran Khodro Automobile Peugeot) joint venture. However, after the re-imposition of U.S. sanctions in 2018, Peugeot left Iran, suspending the IKAP project. Consequently, Iran Khodro modified the Peugeot 301 for local production, resulting in the Tara. The Tara was first unveiled on February 19, 2020, during a cabinet meeting chaired by Hassan Rouhani. Under the codename K132, the car was officially presented at a SAPCO facility. The pre-sale of the Tara began on July 8, 2020. (en.wikipedia.org)
