Zotye Automobile Co., Ltd. was founded on January 14, 2005, by the Zotye Holding Group. However, this project was postponed. In 2018, Zotye signed a joint venture agreement with Ford Motor Company to develop all-electric vehicles for the Chinese market. Despite these initiatives, the company faced financial difficulties, with production almost entirely halted in 2020. In 2022, Zotye relaunched its production, focusing on electric vehicles and smart technologies. In 2024, the company announced agreements to expand its presence in Russia and Algeria. In 2025, Zotye faced liquidity issues, leading to a suspension of vehicle production.
