Brand history

Founded in 1880 by brothers Hendrik Jan and Jacobus Spijker, Spyker began as a manufacturer of carriages and luxury cars in the Netherlands. In 1903, the brand revolutionized the automotive industry with the 60/80 HP model, the first vehicle with four-wheel drive and four-wheel brakes, powered by a six-cylinder engine. After merging with a Dutch aviation company during World War I, Spyker incorporated aeronautical design elements into its cars. However, due to financial difficulties, the company ceased operations in 1925. In 1999, the Spyker name was revived by two Dutch businessmen, leading to the creation of Spyker Cars. The C8 model, unveiled at the Birmingham Motor Show in 2000, marked the beginning of this new era, combining exceptional performance with aviation-inspired design.

Positioning

Spyker positions itself as a manufacturer of exclusive sports cars, combining high-level performance with distinctive aviation-inspired design. Each model is handcrafted, offering a unique and personalized driving experience. The brand targets a passionate clientele seeking exclusivity and innovation, standing out in the supercar segment through its attention to detail and historical heritage.

Photo recognition

To identify a Spyker, look for design elements such as scissor doors, round radiator grilles, and spoke wheels reminiscent of aircraft propellers. The interior often features high-quality materials, aviation-inspired dials, and unique controls. Recent models, like the C8 Preliator, showcase sleek lines and modern technologies while maintaining the brand's classic aesthetic.
