Brand history
Lynk & Co was founded in 2016 as a joint venture between Geely Auto Group and Volvo Car Group, aiming to create an innovative automotive brand positioned in the "new premium" market. The brand was launched with three production models, all based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) developed by China Euro Vehicle Technology (CEVT) and also used by Volvo, Polestar, and Geely. The first model announced by Lynk & Co was the 01 crossover, first showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2017. In August 2017, an agreement was signed between Zhejiang Geely Holding, Geely Automobile Holdings, and Volvo Car Group to establish the Lynk & Co joint venture, with Geely Auto holding 50% of the shares, Volvo 30%, and Zhejiang Geely Holding 20%. Since its inception, Lynk & Co has experienced rapid growth, surpassing one million vehicles produced in less than six years, making it one of the fastest-growing premium automotive brands globally.
