Hongqi history

Established in 1958, Hongqi is the oldest Chinese passenger car brand, created by the FAW Group (First Automotive Works). The name "Hongqi" means "red flag" in Chinese, symbolizing the country's progress and achievements. Initially, Hongqi models were exclusively for high-ranking Chinese government officials. Production ceased in 1981, but the brand was revived in the mid-1990s, becoming the premium brand of the FAW Group.
