Hennessey Blackbird 2026

Blackbird is Hennessey's third in-house hypercar after the Venom GT and Venom F5. Inspired by the Lockheed SR-71, it counters hybrid hypercars with a naturally aspirated V8, manual gearbox and screen-free cabin.

Anecdotes

Its long silhouette, gullwing doors, moving vertical fins and diamond-shaped quad exhaust identify it. Inside, a large central tachometer, physical key and exposed metal shift gate replace digital interfaces.

Production

Production is limited to 71 cars, priced from $2.5 million before taxes. Customer production is targeted for 2029–2030.

Evolution

Hennessey quotes an all-new naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 developed with Ilmor Engineering, targeting 800 to 850 hp and more than 9,000 rpm, paired with a six-speed gated manual with exposed linkage and a physical ignition key. Target dry weight is under 1,360 kg, around a bespoke carbon tub and an inboard suspension architecture with adaptive damping.

Variants

Production is limited to 71 examples worldwide, a figure echoing the SR-71 that gives the car its name. A single configuration is offered, rear-wheel drive only, with active vertical stabilisers that deploy at 71 mph and sit at plus or minus 71 degrees. Customer deliveries are targeted for 2029-2030, priced from 2.5 million dollars before taxes.
