Apollo Intensa Emozione 2019
The Apollo Intensa Emozione is a V12-powered hypercar unveiled by Apollo Automobil in October 2017. Also known as the Apollo IE, it represented the brand’s return after its Gumpert era and adopted an uncompromising, competition-inspired approach. Its carbon-fibre chassis, extensive aerodynamic surfaces and non-hybrid powertrain were developed around low weight and a direct mechanical connection with the driver. Apollo announced a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 producing more than 780 hp, paired with a six-speed Hewland sequential gearbox. Production was planned as a limited run of ten cars, with each example subject to extensive customer specification. Deliveries began in November 2019, placing the IE among the rarest modern hypercars.

History
Apollo Automobil unveiled the Intensa Emozione in late October 2017, following an earlier preview of the project under the Titan codename. The car served as an indirect successor to the Gumpert Apollo, whose production had ended after the former German manufacturer experienced financial difficulties. Apollo used the new model to establish a different identity, built around exclusivity, dramatic styling and engineering influenced by racing technology.
The development programme later expanded through partnerships with specialist companies. HWA AG contributed to the final development work, while Capricorn Group was associated with the production of the carbon structure. Assembly was planned at HWA’s Affalterbach facilities, which had extensive experience with racing cars and a historical connection to the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. In 2019, Apollo announced that the IE had entered production, with first deliveries beginning in November of that year. The commercial plan called for an exceptionally small run of ten cars. A 2021 corporate report stated that all ten had been sold before production started.

Anecdotes
“Intensa Emozione” translates from Italian as “intense emotion.” Apollo linked the name to its aim of preserving a highly sensory driving experience without turbocharging or hybrid assistance. The company also claimed more than 1,350 kg of downforce at 300 km/h. Another notable detail was the weight of the complete carbon structure: Apollo stated that the monocoque, front subframe and rear subframe together weighed only 105 kg.
Production
Production of the Apollo Intensa Emozione was limited to ten cars. Apollo stated that each vehicle would be built to its owner’s requirements, with extensive scope for bespoke customization. Capricorn Group was associated with the carbon structure, while HWA AG contributed to development and was linked to assembly in Affalterbach. A 2021 Apollo Future Mobility Group report stated that all ten cars had been sold before production began and that deliveries started in November 2019. The same report recorded two deliveries during the period covered by the document. These figures underline the exceptional scarcity of the programme, although the available sources do not provide a complete production timetable beyond the announced total of ten vehicles.
Press reception
Specialist automotive coverage focused primarily on the Intensa Emozione’s competition-inspired engineering. Top Gear highlighted its carbon chassis, HWA development work and equipment that evoked an endurance racer adapted for road use. Road & Track likewise emphasized the monocoque structure, integrated safety systems and assembly in an environment associated with racing cars. Launch coverage also concentrated on the naturally aspirated V12, carbon-fibre bodywork and unusually expressive styling. The articles present the IE as a radical and technically ambitious hypercar, but they do not amount to a broad comparative verdict based on long-term road testing. Reception is therefore best described as strong editorial interest in its concept, engineering pedigree and extreme rarity.
