Hennessey Blackbird Base: key facts

Blackbird is Hennessey's third in-house hypercar after the Venom GT and Venom F5. Inspired by the Lockheed SR-71, it counters hybrid hypercars with a naturally aspirated V8, manual gearbox and screen-free cabin.

How can you recognize the Hennessey Blackbird Base?

Its long silhouette, gullwing doors, moving vertical fins and diamond-shaped quad exhaust identify it. Inside, a large central tachometer, physical key and exposed metal shift gate replace digital interfaces.

Engine and technical specifications

The Ilmor-developed 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 targets 800–850 hp and more than 9,000 rpm. Hennessey targets 0–60 mph in 2.5 seconds and 220 mph, with dry weight below 3,000 lb.

History and positioning

The project translates aerospace references into a touring car. Active vertical stabilizers deploy at 71 mph and sit at a 71-degree angle, while the diamond exhaust echoes the Bell X-1.

Production and availability

Production is limited to 71 cars, priced from $2.5 million before taxes. Customer production is targeted for 2029–2030.
