Gordon Murray S1: key facts

The Gordon Murray S1 is a three-seat supercar conceived as a more road-focused evolution of the S1 LM. Revealed at The Quail during Monterey Car Week 2026, it retains a central driving position, naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 and genuine manual gearbox while prioritising comfort and long-distance driving over extreme downforce.

Its 4.2-litre V12 produces up to 690 PS at 12,100 rpm. Production is limited to 64 individually commissioned cars worldwide, and pricing remains undisclosed.

How can you recognize the Gordon Murray S1?

The S1 shares the proportions and design language of the S1 LM, but every exterior panel is new. It removes the LM's large fixed rear wing, long front splitter and deep side skirts for a cleaner silhouette.

Daytime-running lights are integrated into the main clusters, whereas the S1 LM uses a separate blade below each headlamp. Auxiliary high-beam lights sit low in the front intake, referencing a 1992 Monaco show-car design by Gordon Murray.

An active rear aerodynamic system is integrated into the bodywork, adapting to high-speed stability and braking requirements without the LM's fixed wing.

A 4.2-litre, 690 PS Cosworth V12

The naturally aspirated engine was developed specifically with Cosworth. It reaches 4.2 litres and produces up to 690 PS at 12,100 rpm, using competition-derived components including silicon-carbide-coated lightweight pistons, titanium valves and connecting rods, and a lightweight crankshaft.

Gordon Murray quotes around 500 Nm at 7,000 rpm and 80 percent of torque from 2,500 rpm. Those figures support the engine's touring brief without sacrificing its exceptional maximum speed.

A six-speed manual gearbox is fitted, with a taller touring sixth gear as standard. Straighter cable routing is intended to preserve the precise, rifle-bolt shift action.

How does it differ from the S1 LM?

The S1 retains the S1 LM's width, track, wider tyres and lightweight suspension architecture. Ride height rises by 10 mm and the dampers receive a more compliant road-focused calibration.

The emphasis moves from maximum downforce towards mechanical grip, balance and confidence over long distances. Its carbon-fibre monocoque is derived directly from the S1 LM platform.

A central cabin designed for touring

The driver remains in the middle, with two passengers slightly behind. A low scuttle preserves the visibility associated with Gordon Murray's central-seat cars.

The S1 adds bespoke leather and fabrics, more comfortable seats, enhanced acoustic insulation, revised infotainment displays and a lightweight bespoke audio system. Wider-opening doors also improve access to the three-seat cabin.

Gordon Murray S1 production and price

Only 64 S1s will be built worldwide, each individually commissioned with its owner. Gordon Murray has announced neither pricing nor performance figures such as 0-62 mph or top speed, so ScanRacer does not estimate them.
